Inclusive dialogue for peace: we had a full house and vivid discussions in Herat last week during our FES Afghanistan Policy Group conference! We brought together more than 120 residents from the city and province, including scholars, women, human rights advocates, media and youth, to put the spotlight on the public's views and expectations with regard to the ongoing peace talks. The event was widely covered by national and regional media. In the coming weeks, outreach events in other provinces across Afghanistan with a wide range of civil society stakeholders will follow. Their recommendations will be presented later this year to national authorities, the international community and the negotiating parties.

The Afghanistan Policy Group (APG), established in 2012, works to facilitate national and regional dialogue on peace and security by providing a platform for discussing perspectives and strategies for constructive conflict resolution. It includes eminent Afghan public figures, leading civil society representatives, senior decision makers, diplomats and journalists. Their work is kindly hosted and supported by the Peace Training & Research Organization - PTRO.
