The FES office in Kabul was established in 2002. Our aim is to strengthen democratic institutions and civil society. The Foundation's work in Afghanistan focuses in particular on the exchange of ideas and discussion on the following topics: youth and politics, political participation of women and gender mainstreaming, conflict transformation and reconciliation, media and freedom of speech, strengthening civil society, parliamentary and provincal council and political party cooperation.
